What is DTFusion?

DTFusion or better known in the industry as “DTF – Direct To Film”.
“DTFusion” is a process that transfers prints onto fabric or other substrates using a heat-press mechanism.

This technique by printing your design directly onto a film and then transferring it to a T-shirt for example, made of cotton, polyester, or their blends, regardless of their colour, as it can work with white ink as a base.

This will provide you with a high-quality full-colour digital print, that you can transfer to almost any fabric as long as you can heatpress it.

  Smaller details in Designs

  • Words and line details less than 2mm will not come out well and will most likely not transfer perfectly. Fine details might need thicker lines or a stroke for best results

  • Transparency and Gradients:
  • Transparency and see through effects and drop shadows, esspecially on the edge, will not appear correct with a DTF, because a white base is used.
  • The print and printing process need to be of high-quality image for clean and neat prints.
  • Please check your edge quality and whatch out for pixelated edges in your designs.

  • Copyrights:
  • We can not print copyrighted or trademarked designs, please send designs you own the copyright to.

Quality Control for perfect Prints

  • In Order to get the perfect graphic and a perfect final DFT Shirt, bag or more, you will need to keep the following details in mind.
  • Image/ Graphic/ Illustration Specifications:
  • Keep in mind the types of files acceptable for the printers; PDF and PNG
  • The DPI should be no less than 300dpi for a crisp clear design, more than 300 dpi is always welcome.
  • Please send your artwork in the exact size you want the print to be and in RGB colour mode, printer works in RGB.
  • Remove the background of the image or it will print the colour shape behind the artwork.
  • Make sure the colours are correct before sending over your artwork. Most monitors show images in RGB, be sure to save your artwork as RGB Colour. Please check your Pantone colours, because what you see on the screen is not neccasarily what will print.

The Heat Press Way

  •  Preheat your garment for around 10 seconds ensuring it is straight and without folds.
  • Place your image/ DTF  with film facing upwards.
  • Cover the image with a cloth, pillow case or teflon sheet.
  • If using a heat press – set to 200 degrees celcius and press for 10 – 15 seconds.
  • If ironing – apply pressure across the entire image for 5 – 8 seconds. Ensure you keep the iron moving at all times and that the iron does not have any liquid or water as this will work against the DTF.
  • Allow the garment to cool.
  • Once cooled, peel the film crom one side to another carefully.
  • Place the cloth, pillow case or towel onto the garment again to repress.
  • please note: Heating and pressing time will depend on the equipment you are using. Avoid tumble drying and when ironing, turn the garment inside out avoiding direct heat contact with the image.
